I specialise in pet portraits using coloured pencils and pan pastels.
I use high quality lightfast pencils - Faber-Castell polychromos, Prismacolour, Caran d'Ache Luminance & Derwent Lightfast.
These are my preferred mediums for drawing all animals due to the detail that can be achieved with them.
You provide me with the photo for the commission, plus more for reference if available then choose the style and size of portrait you want.
PHOTOGRAPH
The photo has to be clear and good quality, preferably digital where possible.
If the image is a poorer quality I can still work with it but will not be able to produce as detailed a portrait due to this.
For Pet Portraits, if you live within a 15 mile travelling distance from Nairn then I am more than willing where possible to come and take photos of your pet if you do not have a suitable one. Outside of this radius, travelling expenses would be required.
All PET PORTRAITS are drawn on Clairefontaine Pastelmat sheet or board.
Pastelmat has a premium velvety acid free surface (360gsm / 170lb) It significantly reduces the need for fixative, which means that colours remain vibrant for its lifetime.
